Born in Lismore (1990), Sally Anderson began her undergraduate studies in Visual Art at SCU (2009) before transferring to complete them at COFA in Sydney (2015). In 2017, Sally won the prestigious Brett Whiteley Travelling Arts Scholarship and completed a 3-month residency at Cite des Arts in Paris. She has also completed the SIM (Association of Icelandic Visual Artists) residency in Reykjavik/Iceland), the Nancy-Fairfax Residency at Tweed Regional Gallery (Murwillumbah NSW), and Umbi-Gumbi Artist Residency (Cuttagee, NSW). Sally has been a finalist in the Sir John Sulman Prize (AGNSW), Ravenswood Women’s Art Prize, Portia Geach Memorial Award, Muswellbrook Art Prize, Bayside Painting Prize, Sunshine Coast Art Prize, Kilgour Prize, Mosman Art Prize and Paddington Art Prize. Sally has had 15 solo exhibitions including Sydney Contemporary Art Fair (2018) and Auckland Art Fair (2021) and has been included in numerous group exhibitions. In 2022, Sally curated Blue Island for BSA Project Space (Mullumbimby NSW), showcasing and juxtaposing 12 contemporary Australian painters. Sally has been featured in publications such as Art Guide, Art Collector, Artist Profile, The Design Files, SMH, The Australian and Byron Arts Mag. Sally's work is held in several collections including Artbank, Australian Catholic University, Tweed Regional Gallery, SCU Collection and private collections in Australia, England, Belgium, Canada, and the USA.
